Keep Walking

imagesWalk by FAITH and not by sight.  A lot of us have heard that verse a million times throughout our life.  But what the heck does it really mean.  It’s just too simple to say, “Walk by Faith and not by sight”, and everything is going to fall into place and be ok.  Right……  Just how often has that happened for you?  Of course, there was that time a couple of years ago when you were praying for a job.  You stressed and stressed until it made you sick.  Then you received a word from God, prayed about it, and let it go.  The next day someone called you about a job, and you were hired!  So what’s happening right now?  How am I stuck in this place of confusion now and feeling so bound up?  Praying and praying and still no answers, just feeling so lost and alone.  How in the world did I get back here?

We must understand, first, that there is no place of arrival.  There is not a point in our lives that we reach where everything is always going to be okay.  There is a season for everything, and there is nothing new under the sun.  BUT as followers and believers of Christ we will ALWAYS be covered under God’s grace and mercy!!  And He promises us PEACE which passes all understanding.

Imagine tornadoes forming all around you as you stand in an open field surrounded by nothing but the darkest of skies.  You stand rejoicing, praising the name of the most High God!  You know the tornadoes are forming, but you’re not paying attention to them because you’re too busy praising God.  See yourself worshiping Him with all your heart, bowing down, and feeling his presence all around you.  There are cameras on you, people watching in horror, wondering how those strong winds are not affecting you.  They can’t see God’s hand covering you.  They can’t see the angels, He has sent, encamped all around you.  Holy Spirit speaks to you, “Take 4 steps to your right.”  As soon as you take that fourth step a tornado touches the earth where you stood at first, and spins away.  People are gasping, paralyzed with fear, wondering, how you knew to move.  Without, even as much as of thought of fear, you continue to worship, you continue to rejoice.  Holy Spirit gives you a word, “Speak to the storm, peace be still.”  As soon as you utter the last word from your lips, the storm ends.  Those dark clouds begin to dissipate.  Rays of sun burst through the sky clearing a path of blue skies over where you stand.  You hear birds chirping as a gentle breeze brushes across your face, you open your eyes.  Off in the distance you can see traces of dark clouds, but where you stand, right where you stand, in all the glory of God, is a beautiful sunny day. Butterflies rest on the field full of African violets. You inhale the fresh honeysuckle scented air and scream, “What an amazing God I serve.”

He promises that He will never leave us nor forsake us; he didn’t promise that there would not be any storms.  But if we could just trust and obey Him, He will see us through.  We were created to worship Him!  He loves us!  He wants us to have life more abundantly.  He chose us.  He anoints us.  He appoints us.  We are here so that His will shall manifest into the earth.  Our purpose is in Him!  All we have to do is trust and obey, and praise Him!  Do you know what it feels like when you praise Him, and the hair rises up on your arms, your heart beat races a little, you’re overcome with joy, you’re filled with so much gratitude, and all you can say is HALLELUJAH!  Anybody every experienced that?  If you don’t know, you had better find out.

We serve an awesome God.  And although He wants to grant us the desires of our hearts, He is not our servant.  We must also be faithful to Him.  So love Him with all your heart.  Trust in Him with your whole being.  Obey Him with all that you are.  Praise Him in advance.  And keep walking in Faith.
